CONTRIBUTORY AGED PARENT (PERMANENT) 864 VISA

The Contributory Aged Parent (Permanent) Visa Subclass 884 is part of the Parent Visa program. It’s designed for applicants eligible for the Australian age pension.

For parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens in Australia, this visa allows permanent residence.

After receiving this visa, you may apply for the Contributory Aged Parent Visa (Permanent) Subclass 864 if you meet the relevant criteria.

Community Organisations Can Also Sponsor Your Application If:

  • There must be an existing relationship between your child and the organisation.
  • A senior representative within the organisation must agree to sponsor you.
  • The organisation should be legally established in Australia.
  • It needs to have been operating in Australia for at least one year.
  • Financial stability is a key requirement for the organisation.

If You Hold A Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 884), To Gain Permanent Residency Under The 864 Visa, You Must:

  • Have an eligible sponsor who is willing to provide support for at least two years
  • Be old enough to qualify for the age pension in Australia
  • Be eligible to obtain an Assurance of Support, a legal document assuring the Australian Government that you will not rely on government support for two years after entering Australia on the visa
  • Meet the health and character requirements

If you do not hold a 884 visa, you must meet the above requirements and also the balance-of-family test. This means having at least half of your children permanently residing in Australia or the majority of them residing there.
