AGED DEPENDENT RELATIVE 114 & 838 VISA
The Aged Dependent Relative Visa Subclass 114 & 838 are for individuals whose only near relatives are Australian permanent residents and are eligible for the aged pension. These visas allow such individuals to live in Australia permanently if they are dependent on their relative, who must sponsor them and their family members.
Both visas serve the same purpose. They allow individuals, whose only near relatives are in Australia, to live in Australia permanently. The 114 visa is for applicants outside Australia, while the 838 visa is for those inside Australia.
These visas are for single, older applicants dependent on a relative for financial support and care.
To Be Eligible For Either A 114 or 383 Visa, You Must:
- Have an eligible sponsor
- A person or organisation must provide an Assurance of Support, confirming you will not rely on government support for two years after entering Australia
- You can have up to three people provide an assurance of support for you
- Your assurer must lodge a bond, in the form of money, with the Department. The bond is refunded to the assurer, less any social security payments you have received, two years after you first enter Australia on this visa
- You have been dependent on your Australia relative for three years prior to lodging your application
- Meet the health and character requirements
- You and any family member over the age of 18 included on your application will be required to sign an Australian Values Statement
- For the 838 visa, you must be in Australia when you apply and are granted the visa. If applying from outside Australia, you’ll need the 114 visa.
